چکیده

METHOD for the miieasureniemit of seiummmadenosiime deaminase activity was recently published in this ,Journal (1). This method requires 2 ml. of serum, suffers froni ammunnecessarily large number of manipulations, ahl(l utilizes aim unstable, relatively insensitive Nessler color reaction (2). Attempts to overcome these difficulties constitute the basis for this report. A catalyzed indopheimol reaction for the determination of ammonia, wimicim is reportedly quite sensitive amid produces a stable blue color, has been published by Chammev amid Marbach (3). These authors have applied the reaction to the determilmation of urea after hydrolysis with urease, and reagents ale available comniercially. It is a modification of the Bertholet reaction (4). The following is a description of the application of this reactiolm to the determination of ammonia liberated by serunm adellosimle deammase activity.

Micromethod for estimating adenosine deaminase activity in dried blood spots on filter paper.

We describe a fluorometric micromethod for measuring adenosine deaminase activity in dried blood spots on filter paper. Earlier methods require venipuncture and preparation of washed erythrocytes; in the present method, whole capillary blood, spotted on filter paper and mailed (dried) to a central laboratory, is used. The stability of the enzyme in dried blood on filter paper was assessed. The ...

Serum Adenosine Deaminase Activity and C-Reactive Protein Levels in Patients with Brucellosis

Background and Objective: Brucellosis is a main transmittable zoonotic disease, which is endemic, and a common health burden in Iran. Adenosine deaminase (ADA) is an essential enzyme which is involved in purine metabolism and its role in immune system is very important. The aim of this study was to determine serum changes of ADA and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in patients with brucellosi...

Sensitivity and specificity of adenosine deaminase in diagnosis of juvenile idiopathic arthritis

Background :Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) is one of the most common chronic rheumatic diseases in children with unknown etiology and pathogenesis. It also has no diagnostic test and its clinical diagnosis is made through ruling out other types of arthritis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the level of ADA (Adenosine Deaminase) in the serum of JIA patients and to compare it with th...

Association between Serum Adenosine Deaminase Activity and Blood Glucose Level in Gestational Diabetes

Background &Objectives: Adenosine deaminase (ADA) is a marker of T cell activation. ADA catalyzes the deamination of adenosine and modulates the bioactivity of insulin. The aim of this study was to investigate a possible relationship between ADA activity and various clinical and metabolic parameters, including fasting plasma sugar (FBS) and glycated hemoglobin (HBA1c), in gestational diabetes (...
